Career Beginnings and “The Princess Diaries” Appearance
Before Todd made his acting debut, he was a substitute teacher, but that didn’t last long as he soon secured a minor role in the TV western series “Walker, Texas Ranger” in 1997. In 1999 he appeared as Skinny Private, another minor role in the film “A Texas Funeral”, and the same year also in the comedy horror film “Natural Selection”, starring David Carradine, Michael Bowen and Darren E. Burrows. His career continued at the start of the new millennium with a couple of notable film appearances, such as in “Where the Heart Is” in 2000, and in “The Princess Diaries” (2001), plus being chosen for one of his most prominent roles so far, as Zack in the TV drama series “Gilmore Girls”.
Rise to Prominence
Todd’s popularity increased along with the “Gilmore Girls” popularity; he appeared in 42 episodes of the Golden Globe Award-nominated series, which helped him reach stardom. However, it was only after the “Gilmore Girls” ended that Todd really reached stardom, with the part of the PTSD-suffering Iraqi War veteran, in the fantasy drama series “True Blood”. He appeared in 66 episodes of the highly-acclaimed series, for which he won the Satellite Award with the rest of his co-stars in the category for Best Ensemble, Television. During this time, Todd was also active in the search for other acting engagements and secured several other prominent roles, including as Randy in the TV comedy series “Ave 43” (2009-2017). He has also appeared in several films, including the drama “50 to 1” in 2014, and the romantic drama film “Sequoia” in the same year.
