She remained actively pursuing roles, and in 1991 her hard work paid off when she was chosen for the role of Selina in the film “New Jack City”, starring next to Wesley Snipes.

Rise to Prominence

During the early ‘90s, Michael enjoyed success with regular roles in such TV series as “Dangerous Curves” (1992-1993), “Trade Winds” in 1993, “New York Undercover” (1994-1995), and “C.P.W” (1995-1996), all of which helped her to become popular. She continued rather successfully in the second half of the decade, first with the role of R.C. St. John in the fantasy comedy-drama series “The Sixth Man” (1997), and then with the part of Rene Sheppard in the TV crime-drama series “Homicide: Life on the Street” (1998-1999), while just before the decade ended, she secured the role of Cleo Finch in the daytime soap opera “ER” (1999-2002).

With the start of the new millennium, Michael repeated the role of Rene Sheppard in the television film “Homicide: The Movie”, while in 2001 she starred next to Will Smith in the biopic film “Ali”. The following year, Michael co-starred in the crime-drama film “Dark Blue”, with Kurt Russell and Scott Speedman in the lead roles, and in 2003 she was Spears in the critically-acclaimed romantic comedy film “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”.
