Who is Omri Katz?

Omri Haim Katz was born on 30 May 1976, in Los Angeles, California, USA, and is a retired actor, best known for his work in the Disney comedy-fantasy film entitled “Hocus Pocus”. He’s also known for his roles in other television projects, such as “Dallas”, and “Adventures in Dinosaur City”.

The Riches of Omri Katz

How rich is Omri Katz? As of mid-2019, sources inform us of a net worth that is over $1 million, earned through a successful career in acting. He’s also worked on several feature films during his career, and as he continues his endeavors, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Omri grew up in Los Angeles, but is of Jewish descent, with his parents originally from Israel but who immigrated to the US before his birth. He grew up with two siblings, and experienced living in Israel for a year during his childhood. There are almost no details regarding his life before going to acting, as no information has been shared about his education, or the experiences that led him towards his career.

His first project would be his longest role, as he became a main cast member of the television show “” in which he played John Ross Ewing III. The show follows a wealthy and feuding Texas family, the Ewings, who own an independent oil company as well as a cattle-ranching property. The show initially focused on the marriage of Bobby Ewing and Pamela Barnes, from a rival family, but later on J.R. Ewing, who became the show’s breakout character. The series became widely known for its cliffhangers, and was one of the longest lasting full-hour prime time dramas in American television history.

Continued Work – Eerie, Indiana and Matinee

Katz’ work lasted for a total of 149 episodes over the span of eight years. After his run with the show, he made a guest appearance in “Simon & Simon” before becoming a main cast member of the show “Eerie, Indiana”, in which he played the character Marshall Teller. The show ran for 19 episodes ,and focused on him as a teenager whose family moves to the town of Eerie, Indiana. During his time there, he experiences numerous bizarre events, such as urban legends and a group of intelligent dogs planning to take over the world.

After his season run with the show, his next big project would be the television film entitled “Adventures in Dinosaur City”. He also had guest roles in “Zorro” and “The Torkelsons” before working on another film entitled “Matinee”, which follows an independent filmmaker during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Stars in the film include John Goodman, Cathy Moriarty, Simon Fenton, and Katz, with the movie being well received with good reviews. During its run, it ranked sixth at the box office.

Hocus Pocus and Later Career

In 1993, Omri was cast in the Disney film entitled “”, which starred Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker. The show follows a villainous trio of witches who are accidentally resurrected by a boy played by Omri, in Salem, Massachusetts. The film was not a success and even lost Disney around $16.5 million, yet over the years it has become a cult film, often aired annually on Disney Channel and Freeform.

Around the same time, he gained a recurring role in “The John Larroquette Show”, playing the character Tony Hemingway, in the sitcom which starred Larroquette after his run in “Night Court”, as the character Dan Fielding. The show took place in a seedy bus terminal located in St. Louis, Missouri, following several characters who worked there, along with the lead character’s struggle with alcoholism. He appeared in six episodes of the show over the next two years, and in 1996 appeared in the television film reunion of “Dallas”, entitled “Dallas: J.R. Returns”, one of two “Dallas” reunion films produced after the original show went off the air. A few of his latest projects before his retirement include “Freaks and Geeks” and “General Hospital”.

Personal Life and Social Media

For his personal life, not much is known in terms of Katz romantic relationships. as after his rise to fame as a teenage actor, not much has been revealed about him outside his work. Later in his life, he disappeared further into obscurity, and there have been no updates about his life as his popularity waned. According to him, he plays the drums and is fluent in Hebrew – his name in Hebrew means a “sheaf of grain descended of a priest”. The last people heard about him is that he was working as a hairdresser in Los Angeles.

One of the reasons there is very little information about him is due to the lack of any active social media accounts. He has a Facebook page which has over 1,200 followers, active during 2016 when there were a lot of rumors going around about a possible “Hocus Pocus 2”. However, when the rumors died down, the account also became inactive. Other than that, he doesn’t have any presence on websites such as Instagram and Twitter. He retired from acting sometime in 2002, after making the short film “Journey Into Night”.
