She was the co-host of the show “SportsNation” at ESPN until her departure from the network, and as she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Education and Early Career

Charissa grew up in Seattle, and at a young age realized that she wanted to be a broadcaster. She later attended Inglemoor High School, and after matriculating enrolled at Washington State University, but then moved to California to help her gain California residency while attending community college, subsequently transferring to the University of California, Santa Barbara, eventually completing a degree in Law and Society in 2004.


She began her sports broadcasting career with the network FSN, for which she mainly covered a variety of baseball events, including appearing as a part of the programs “The 2007 MLB All-Star Game Red Carpet Parade” and “The Baseball Report”. She then started working for Fox, mainly as an NFL sideline reporter, while also covering college basketball and football games for the Big Ten Network. Charissa frequently appeared in shows such as “The BCS Show”, “BCS Breakdown” and “Friday Night Tailgate”, and was also the co-host of “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” before its cancellation in 2009.

Career Prominence

While working on sports broadcasts, Thompson also hosted the Atlantic City lottery show for several years, and competed in trapeze competition for a few years after that. She later hosted the show “Toughest Cowboy”, before becoming the co-host of the show “Big Saturday Night” while with GSN. She appeared as a sideline reporter in the show “Shaq Vs.”, before covering sideline reporting of several National Hockey League games. In 2010, she covered the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games for Yahoo Sports, and was also the co-host of the Speed Network’s “Fast Track to Fame”, with NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip.

She continued to work for Yahoo to cover the FIFA World Cup held in South Africa in 2010, and the following year covered the college American Football BCS National Championship game. In 2011, she was entrusted with coverage of both the Super Bowl the NBA All-Star Game,  as well as the NHL All-Star Game from Versus, but was later left out of from the network’s NHL reporting team following the NBC-Comcast merger. In 2013, she became the co-host of the reality television series entitled “Splash”, in which contestants dive from Olympic-size platforms and are scored by Olympic divers.

Later Work and Other Projects

Charissa worked with ESPN on the show “Numbers Never Lie”, and she was also a fill-in host for the show “SportsNation”, later becoming one of the regular hosts, but eventually left ESPN to return to Fox. In 2014, she worked with Mario Lopez and Tracy Edmonds in the television show “Extra”, on which she stayed for three years before to focus on her work with Fox Sports. In 2016, she began hosting the Netflix reality show entitled “Ultimate Beastmaster”, which features celebrities from various countries competing in an obstacle course. She also joined the sportscasting team of Top Rank to cover the pay-per-view boxing event “Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas”. Charissa was featured in an issue of “Access DirecTV”, and worked with the magazine briefly for a feature story. She was also the host of the “Barstool Spelling Bee” on one occasion.

Personal Life and Social Media

For her personal life, it is known that Thompson was in a relationship with former college and NBA basketball player, and current college basketball analyst Jay Williams; they dated from 2011 for more than a year before separating. No further relationships have been reported or even rumoured. She’s mentioned in an interview that she is a Christian, and now resides in Malibu, California where she owns a beach house valued at almost $3 million, and has recently put it up . Some of the features of her home include a fire pit, suspended televisions, ambient lighting, and a Sonos sound system. The price of the home includes all the furniture.
