Molly was born on 31 January 1977, in West Virginia, USA. She attended Tucker County High School in Hambleton, matriculating in 1995, and afterwards enrolled at Virginia Tech and studied Mass Communication and Political Science there, earning her degree four years later. During her college days, she also competed in the Miss West Virginia Pageant after winning the preliminary Miss Greater Bluefield Area Pageant. She would then compete for the pageant once more in 2000.

She began her news career as a reporter and photographer for WDTV located in Bridgeport, West Virginia in a year prior to her second Miss West Virginia Pageant. After a year there, she moved to WXXA in Albany, New York where she also worked as a reporter and then anchor. In 2002, her next stint would have her becoming a part of WFXT (Channel 25), which is a Boston affiliate. She served as an anchor and reporter there too, and started covering high profile incidents. This was her final stint before joining Fox News Channel.

Covering High Profile News
During her time at WFXT, Line had her first experience with high profile news when she covered the sentencing of Richard Reid, the shoe bomber; Richard is a British terrorist who was apprehended while on an American Airlines flight in 2001 attempting to detonate an explosive device which he packed into his shoes. He was initially a petty criminal, but became radicalised in Pakistan and Afghanistan where he trained to become a member of terrorist group al-Qaeda. She then covered the Station nightclub fire which occurred in 2003 and killed 100 people and injured 230, caused by pyrotechnics that were set off for the headlining band Great White. However, the pyrotechnics ignited plastic foam in the walls and ceilings around the stage which began the rapidly moving fire. A video was released of the event, and the heat, smoke and the panic.

While working for Fox News Channel, she reported the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, an incident in 2012 in which killed 20 children and six staff. The shooter was Adam Lanza who shot his mother at home before going on a spree in the school, and then killing himself; it is the fourth deadliest shooting in US history, and the deadliest at any US elementary school. The school was eventually demolished and replaced in 2016.

Another controversy she covered was the Boston bomb scare involving a promotion of television series “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”; as a part of their promotion, they installed LED displays in various cities including Boston which caused an uproar within the community. The scare caused the creators of the show to be given community service, while Turner Broadcasting had to pay $2 million to the Boston Police Department. Only Boston seemed to put up this issue despite the same LED displays being put in 10 other cities. She also covered the extradition of Neil Entwistle, who was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for murdering his wife and their infant daughter. The bodies were found in the family rented home and Neil raised suspicion as he quickly departed the scene of death of his family, and he was eventually indicted on two counts of murder.
Who Is Matt Petrus?
In 2011, Molly became engaged to Matt Petrus as announced on her Facebook page. They were subsequently married the following year at the Jackson Community Church located in Jackson, New Hampshire. They have a daughter who was born four years after their marriage.
